I realise from the Crawcrook and Ryton Facebook page that I am not the only person to have photographs of the Ryton 54 Drama Group, later the Ryton Players. I’m grateful to Linda Harper for publishing a couple more, because I hadn’t seen them before and they feature my aunt. I thought I would create a page exclusively for the club that was prominent in Ryton in the 1950’s and early 1960’s. If anyone has any more photographs I would love to see them and be allowed to add them here please. There’s also a suggestion that Linda’s photographs could be from the Ryton WI. Unfortunately nothing is written on the back of them. Since this post was first published, Billie Reavley from Whitley Bay kindly got in touch with me, having found further old photographs in an antique shop at the coast. The programme from The Late Christopher Bean was with the photos, as well as copies of the text, and also the text of When We Are Married. These are interesting, because the director’s comments are written in the margins. I’m grateful to Billie for letting me have these.
