I am indebted to David Richardson who has supplied the following photographs courtesy of Beamish Museum. The photographs are pages of a scrapbook compiled in 1965, possibly by a member of Ryton WI. One or two names immediately spring out, such as Howard Taylor, Mary and Tommy Charlton, and several familiar names appear among the patrons and members of the 54 Club. Other notable Rytonians from days gone by are featured, Ronnie Boyle, of Boyle’s general dealers, and who remembers Mr. Hughes? Click on an image to view full size. They can be downloaded to facilitate better viewing, however all are the property of Beamish Museum and must not be reproduced without their permission. For best results use a lap or desk top computer.
