Just in case you missed it on Facebook or Twitter. After our last meeting, we told you that we had applied for the pub to be made an Asset of Community Value. Well, here is the result
We have been granted the ACV by Gateshead Council – our application to make the pub an asset of community value has been successful.
This means we have to be told about any other bids for the pub – and given the right to put our own bid in, with six months from that date to raise the money.
It also means any planning application for change of use will be refused until our six months is up. This puts us in a much stronger position as we officially establish our community benefit society.
This follows our good news from the previous bank holiday when we were granted support and funding from Plunkett Foundation to help set up as a community business.
It’s all coming together and soon we will be able to start campaigning to raise shares to buy the pub.”
