Nikki Woodward, WildGround Project Leader, Durham Wildlife Trust, reports that the Community Nature Event in Ferndene Park on Saturday, 18th March was an outstanding success with many individuals and families taking part. The bird ringing seemed to be a particular highlight! The bird experts involved in the day were pleasantly surprised by the amount and diversity of birds in the park. They ringed three goldcrests!
Nikki would like to thank Friend of Ferndene Park (especially Maggie) the Heritage Lottery Fund, Durham Wildlife Trust, Gateshead Council, Brighten Ryton, Northumberland Bird Ringers, Keith Bowey and the Coop for supporting the event. Nikki has supplied some photos from the day. (Image at the head of this article is also courtesy of GroundWorks)
