What a lovely morning I’ve had today at the Rhyme Time Christmas Party in the Ryton Methodist Church Hall. Rhyme Time is a popular event for babies and pre-school children, and it’s held every Monday morning during term time. It starts at 10am and it runs for an hour. It’s organised by community library volunteers, and we have rhymes, singing, a story, and a break for fruit. Your little ones can also join our library and borrow books.
Today was a little different because it was party time! As you can see from the photographs everyone enjoyed themselves, and the day was made all the more special by Mike Soanes joining us. I’ve written about Mike (whose band is Jammshed) before. Mike is married to our volunteer Lin, and he led us in some Christmas songs, raising musical standards considerably. As well as his guitar, Mike brought along some percussion instruments and the fabulous ocean drum (see photos). Thank you everyone for coming, and to parents and guardians, all of whom gave permission for their children’s photographs to be published here, and to appear on the Ryton Library Facebook page, thus raising our profile.
Anyone who would like a photograph of their child – one that doesn’t have rytonian.com emblazoned over it, email me at rytonian9@yahoo.com and I will arrange for a CD to be ready for you at the next Rhyme Time, which will be Monday 9th January. See you in the New Year!
