I don’t envy Mark Zuckerberg his millions, because it’s down to him that I’ve re-kindled many friendships and enjoyed some fantastic times. Yesterday was a case in point, because without Facebook Heather and I would never have found ourselves at Beamish Hall enjoying their annual winter music festival, now into its fourth year. The first band to play on Saturday was George Shovlin and The Radars. Stu Burlison is their bass guitarist, and I got back in touch with Stu, his wife Jan, and their daughter Mandi through Facebook, having lost contact with them for nearly forty years. It’s the second time we’ve heard George and The Radars play, and we also enjoyed The Bear Wire Band, and some original sounds from Stan. The festival is a celebration of real ale as well a music, and it’s run in conjunction with CAMRA. Held over two days, It’s sadly over for this year, but click on the links to see where the bands we enjoyed are playing next.
