Ryton Local Produce Market

On Saturday morning I got myself down to The Ryton Market which is held on the last Saturday of every month. It’s easy to find, it’s just off the main road beside the rugby club where the old pit wheel is. It boasts a selection of local produce including bread, meat, cheese, fruit and veg, and there’s a craft market and café along in Ryton Hub. I bought a couple of home-made pies, some bread, and a selection of smoked meats. I got talking to the organiser, Melanie Cornish, who is based in Blaydon.  She has strong links with Throp Academy and other local schools. Profits from the market go to a variety of local projects. In particular they are supporting local literacy charity, Bringing Words to Life, based in Blaydon. Click on the blue links for further information and to contact Melanie.  Ryton Local Produce Market
